The material covered in Elective 802 is supplemented with two weeks of actual “real life” business cases. Students will collaborate and use root cause analysis to evaluate problems, create solutions and present to their peers

1 Week Elective

ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS AND BEYOND

In this elective, participants will use knowledge acquired in the 13 Pillars elective as a starting point to solve “Real-Life” practice issues.

Using root cause analysis and critical thinking skills, students will give two presentations to their peers and lead discussions on topics of their choice.          

Topics include:

  1. Critical nursing and physician mistakes in the office

  2. Embezzlement of money by a trusted employee

  3. Negligence of duties by a physician

  4. Poor staff customer service impacting quality of care

  5. Sexual harassment complaints

  6. Physician personal financial issues – putting a practice at risk

  7. Workplace violence

  8. Mal practice by an associated physician

  9. Impairment of a senior physician

  10. Bad medical outcomes

  11. Practice cash flow deficits
